Miss Tourism International 2009

As a bevy of beauties graced the stage in the opening dance gambit, two things were obvious. One, they were undoubtedly very beautiful women, and two, they probably did not manage to squeeze in much practice time for the dance.
The 46 women had come from all over the world to vie for the Miss Marigold Body Beautiful title, a subsidiary title of Miss Tourism International 2009, set to be decided in a finale tomorrow.
"As the number one pasteurised milk in Malaysia today, Marigold HL Low Fat Milk is the perfect choice for our lovely contestants," said Marigold HL Low Fat Milk general manager S.B Cheah. Well, no wonder the milk is the official health drink for the pageant.
Perhaps it really was the milk that worked wonders, or perhaps most of the contestants simply had a body to die for to begin with — that we shall never know. From fitness attire to evening wear, there were many thumps heard throughout the night.
It was probably the sound of men's jaws hitting the floor. A look at the list of contestants and their almost perfect vital statistics would be sure to send anyone into cardiac arrest. If that didn’t do the trick, the contestants' ambitions would.
The Finland contestant for one, a 19-year-old security officer, wrote 'pole dancer' in the forms' ambition column. Interesting choice of career among the many lawyers, singers and even journalists. A sure way to stand out! Of course, some of them chose to stand out by way of evening wear as well, fully following the 'if you've got it, flaunt it' motto.
Giving it new meaning in fact! Miss Japan, who looked absolutely resplendent in a red dental floss of a gown was one of the few who subscribed to that school of thought. Taking home the title in the end was Miss Venezuela, Jessica Ibarra (pic), a 23-year-old student cum model with body measurements of 34/24/37.
She walked away with a prize of RM1,000, a sash and a trophy. The event, which was held at Sunway Pyramid also saw a free flow of drinks for all! Or should we say 'drink'? Throughout the event, the refreshing HL Low Fat Milk was handed out to all who stopped by.
The finale of Miss Tourism International 2009 will be held at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Grand Ballroom on Dec 31, starting from 7.30pm.
