Launch of amaxCity@TPM
At the heart of this venture is a product created by MIMOS, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The product known as WiWi combines Wimax technology and WiFi, for broadband wireless service usage.
On behalf of MIMOS and TPM, our partners in this WiWi technology development joint venture, let me share the background which led to this collaboration and the setting up of amax cityTM in TPM.
Asiaspace is a broadband wireless network service provider, which uses two point three giga hertz spectrum with WiMax technology, a technology that possesses a global ecosystem and is supported by world industry players through the WiMAX International Forum.
Asiaspace’s top priority in its effort to expand amaxTM, its broadband wireless service, is to ensure that the public receives quality service. This is why the service is only offered in areas that are guaranteed to have strong and steady coverage. Anything less would not ensure full satisfaction among amaxTM service users.
Currently, the amaxTM service is concentrated in the Klang Valley and TPM in Bukit Jalil – one of the areas which has strong and reliable amaxTM service coverage.
To further enrich amaxTM service coverage, a smart partnership was established between Asiapace and MIMOS Berhad. This has resulted in an innovative product known as WiWi, which combines Wimax technology and WiFi. This will be used in TPM to boost broadband wireless services using WiWi among the more than 160 high-tech companies in the park.
TPM’s suitability as a site for amax cityTM, a WiMax service network that use WiWi, is undeniable as there are many local and international companies involved in ICT- and biotechnology-related research activities.
I hope that amax cityTM will be a catalyst for creativity and innovation, and that more value-added applications in the broadband wireless industry will be introduced.
